"....Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."

Mark 10:14

Bread of Life Kenya is a charity which supports projects and organisations in Kenya working with disadvantaged children.

Our Mission Statement

Sharing the love of Christ by meeting the practical needs of vulnerable children.

What does this mean?

When Jesus lived on earth he reached out to people in the place of their greatest need and in this way brought the love of God to them in a powerful and life changing way; to the hungry he provided food when he fed the five thousand; he healed the man born blind, the woman with the bleeding and the young man who had fits; he provided the warmth of a fire for his disciples when they were cold from fishing all night; he gave his time to the leper and the prostitute who had been scorned by society; and in doing all this he showed God's love before he even spoke a word.

Kenya and England may be 6000 miles apart, but we believe that brothers and sisters in Christ have a duty to stand by each other in hardship and in plenty, when we are suffering and when we are strong. This is what Jesus came to earth to do; to become human and share with the suffering of God's creation and to provide hope in the midst of despair.

We want to express the love of God and make a practical difference in a suffering world.

Why Kenya?

In 1999 the Director of Bread of Life Kenya spent 8 months in Kenya working as a volunteer at a children's home in Kisumu, where she met a young boy who had lost both parents. A friendship developed which has lasted many years, and from this many other relationships have sprung up in Kenya with others who have a common goal of reaching out to children in need.

Isaiah 61:1-3 says:

’The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives…to comfort all who mourn and provide for those who grieve in Zion – to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair’
