About Us
The trustees of Bread of Life Kenya are Christians who are committed to making a difference in the lives of children in need in Kenya, and sharing God's love in a practical way.
Why Kenya?
In 1999 the Director of Bread of Life Kenya spent 8 months in Kenya working as a volunteer at a children's home in Kisumu, where she met a young boy who had lost both parents. A friendship developed which has lasted many years, and from this many other relationships have sprung up in Kenya with others who have a common goal of reaching out to children in need.
The plight of so many people living in slums in Kenya and particularly the children who grow up in the midst of poverty, disease and hopelessness, has created a passion to make a difference and a desire to show God's heart for those who are hurting in a practical way.
Isaiah 61:1-3 says:
’The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives…to comfort all who mourn and provide for those who grieve in Zion – to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair’
