Kenya Update - January 2008
You may have heard on the news this week about the recent outbreaks of violence in Kenya linked to allegations of vote rigging in the presidential elections which were taking place this last week.
We would ask you please to remember the people of Kenya who are suffering and dying in these outbreaks of violence which have occurred not only in Nairobi , but in a number of towns and cities around the country including Kisumu.
Kenya has struggled under oppressive and corrupt governments for many years and the strength of this recent violence goes to show how this has affected the people.
It is not just those with strong political views who are involved, but many thousands of innocent people too; homes and livelihoods have been destroyed, and many lives have been lost already including women and children.
There have been outbreaks of violence in Manyatta, the district of Kisumu where Saints Christian Children's Home is situated, water in the city has been cut off and many people have been unable to leave their homes for fear for their lives.
PLEASE PRAY particularly for Lorine, Martin, Rose, Willis and the children at SCCH in Kisumu, for their safety and protection from all that is going on around them at this time.
PLEASE PRAY for peace to return to this troubled land and for God to put the right man in the presidential seat, one that will work towards meeting the needs of the people of Kenya and putting an end to the political and tribal conflict which is affecting so many lives.
